Adventures in Fostering

Hi, all! I’m a new foster mom and I want you guys to know all about what it’s like. This new series will give you a look into what it’s like to care for newborn puppies up until their adoption time.

Last week the pups’ new foster mom, Starr, took the two bigger boys in to see if they were ready to be neutered and put up for adoption. The pups were ready! I was so surprised, but the pups had quite a growth spurt in the past week. They were neutered on Thursday and put up for adoption on Friday morning. As soon as the shelter opened the two boys were spotted by potential adopters and out of their pens. Both potential adopters ended up choosing these two for their forever companions! I’m thrilled that I was able to meet their new owners and hope that the pups go on to live happy lives with their new families.

It was bittersweet to see them leave, realizing that I would probably never see them again, but I find comfort knowing that they are in good hands. I’m going to miss those puppies so much, but this experience has definitely been worth the ups and downs. I recommend that everyone who has the time, space and ability to foster take on the challenge. There are two puppies left in foster care. These two each have a promising home lined up once they are ready for adoption. I’ll keep you posted on the remaining two and leave you with this picture of the two pups and their adopters.
